UK poker players will be looking forward to taking part in 888Live Series London which takes place at the popular Aspers Casino in London, England. The 888 London festival which starts on October 5 and finish on October 16 is expected to attract the top poker players in the UK as more than $800,000 in guaranteed prize money will be on the line.

The two star events at the 888 Live Series London will be the special High Roller event which has a buy-in of £220 and a guaranteed prize pool of £120, 000 while the Main Event will have a buy-in of £1,100 and a massive £400,000 in guaranteed prize money. 888poker and the Aspers Casino have agreed to introduce an Action Clock only for the High Roller and Main Events.

This will be the first time that UK players will be subjected to an action clock at a 888 Live Series in the UK.

The World Poker Tour (WPT) introduced action clocks in 2016 and so have a number of other tournament organizers in recent times. Tournament organizers have decided to use action clocks to speed up play and force poker players to make decisions faster. The idea behind this is to provide poker fans with a lot more action and make the game more exciting.

However not all poker players are happy to be put under additional pressure and find the action clock a distraction. John Scanlon, the head of poker at Aspers Casino said that the casino welcomed the use of action clocks and were happy to implement it when 888poker made the suggestion.

In a statement, Scanlon said

I’d like to assure everyone coming to play the event that adding the Action Clock is not about putting players under unnecessary pressure; it’s about keeping the game running smoothly and ultimately providing all players involved with a better structure and overall experience

There are a number of other exciting events scheduled during the 12 day London poker festival and these events will not have an action clock. 888poker has included a number of events with low buy-ins to enable poker players from all backgrounds to have the chance to register and compete. Some of these low buy-in events include The Swordfish which has a £60 buy-in and takes place on 9 October and the Turbo Deepstack which has a £80 buy-in and takes place on 10 October.
