Summary
GGPoker doesn’t want to get left behind when it comes to the latest trends in the game.
With Mystery Bounty tournaments making waves these days because of the thrilling and rewarding experience they provide, GGPoker is hosting two events of the increasingly popular format in partnership with the World Series of Poker (WSOP).
The 2022 WSOP Spring Circuit series kicks off on GGPoker from March 24. The series will award a mouth-watering $100 million guarantee and features a total of 18 gold ring events which include two Mystery Bounty tournaments.
The first one will take place on April 9 and comes with a $210 buy-in with $1 million guaranteed. The other is scheduled to run on April 16 and costs $2,100 to enter, with players set to compete for a slice of $2 million in guaranteed prize money. Both events feature multiple starting flights.
Day 1 of each Mystery Bounty event will be played as a normal tournament. Players will begin the action with 25,000 in starting stack played to 12-minute levels. Both tournaments will allow re-entry.
The bounty element will start on Day 2, with half of the entry fee going to the bounty and the other half added to the prize pool. While the amount of the minimum bounty prize is unknown, what’s certain is that the highest prize will be $100,000. The bounties will be awarded via random draw.
With this structure, players are expected to adopt the best strategy to reach the bounty stage. Some may play tight as Day 1 draws to a close, while others could decide to take advantage of late registration.
GGPoker isn’t the first online poker room to host a Mystery Bounty tournament, with Ukrainian site PokerMatch running tournaments of the trendy format back in February. It will be interesting to see how the new format pans out on GGPoker and whether it will be a huge hit among players.
The popular format will also make its debut in the 53rd WSOP live festival at Bally’s this summer after making its way to another major live series, the European Poker Tour Prague, which just concluded last week.
