This year, a total of seven prominent players have already committed to compete in the big event. Joining Ivey on the list are Daniel “Jungleman” Cates, Nick Petrangelo, David Einhorn, Rick Salomon, Talal Shakerchi and Chris Brewer.
Salomon, Shakerchi, and Einhorn have competed in every Big One for One Drop event since its launch in 2012. Among the three, Salomon has achieved the biggest success so far in the tournament, reaching the final table in three of the four past editions. His largest score came in 2016 when he finished 3rd in the tournament for €3,000,000 ($3,307,206).
Einhorn finished strong in the inaugural event, claiming $4,352,000 for his 3rd-place finish. Cates and Petrangelo are also no strangers to the tournament as both players have also participated in previous events. The only Big One newcomer on the line-up is Brewer who has had a productive year so far with multiple deep runs in major tournaments.
Poker for Charity
The Big One for One Drop tournament will benefit the One Drop Foundation, an international non-profit organization working towards ensuring sustainable access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene for deprived communities. Six percent of each buy-in is donated to the charity to help in its various initiatives.
Alexander Meunier, One Drop Foundation’s Chief Marketing and Events Officer, Chief Marketing and Events Officer at One Drop Foundation, said they are thrilled to know the initial line-up of participants in the Big One and are looking forward to seeing more players added to the list.
WPT CEO Adam Pliska said they’re excited with every new entry as they aim to boost support for the One Drop Foundation’s global cause.
