Amar Begovic Wins First Gold Ring At WSOPC Rozvadov Main Event

Amar Begovic has played the poker circuit for over a decade but never won anything significant in his career.

All that changed at the WSOP International Circuit Rozvadov when the poker pro from Bosnia & Herzegovina surprised everyone including himself when he went on to win the €1,650 WSOPC Main Event in Rozvadov, Czech Republic.

Amar Begovic was able to best 796 players at the WSOPC Rozvadov Main Event that ran from March 16 to 19 at the Kings Casino Rozvadov.

He showed that persistence does pay in the long run and took home his biggest cash prize till date, winning €220,000 (US$271,585) from the €1,134,300 prize pool after going head-to-head with Israel’s Timur Margolin.

Begovic had a good showing at the Kings Casino as he did well at the WSOPC in the lead up to the Main Event. He had two cash-outs on March 7 and March 14 winning €10,902 for placing 6th at the €550 NLH WSOPC Monster Stack and then won another €4,134 for finishing 5th at the €600 NLH WSOPC Bounty Hunter.

Begovic then headed into the Main Event with a healthy amount of confidence and a decent bankroll that was enough to boost him throughout the next few days. He took the chip lead early in Day 3 and was very confident that he could go the distance. After a number of eliminations, folds, bets, and flop raises, Paris Stavridis’s elimination put Begovic and Margolin at the heads-up. Timur Margolin and Begovic twice overtook each other but a second queen from the river boosted Begovic’s queen-four on a queen-high board and cemented his victory. Margolin finished in second place and cashed out with €135,000 for his efforts while Stavridis came in third taking home €97,000.

Begovic Wins His First Gold Ring

Begovic’s victory has not only earned him a decent payday but also brought him his first gold ring. His victory also won him a seat at the 2018 WSOP Global Casino Championship that will be held in August at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort in North Carolina. The three-day tournament will feature a $1 million guaranteed prize pool and the winner will receive a WSOP gold bracelet.

This victory brings Begovic’s total career prize money to $353,954 and places him 7th on Bosnia & Herzegovina’s all-time money list.
