BetMGM Officially Confirms Plans To Launch iPoker In Nevada

Summary

  • BetMGM confirms iPoker launch in Nevada
  • Operator already has an interactive iGaming license
  • No official date provided for expected iPoker launch

There have been rumours floating around that BetMGM has plans to launch online poker services in Nevada but none of those rumours were confirmed until now.

BetMGM has now made it public as a customer support representative informed a player in Nevada that while they do not offer iPoker services at the moment, there are plans for an iPoker platform to be launched in Nevada.

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) has dominated the online poker market in Nevada for close to a decade. PokerStars, the biggest online poker operator in the world has not been able to enter Nevada due to the fallout from the infamous Black Friday incident. The one brand that can give the WSOP competition in Nevada is BetMGM.

Entain the parent company of BetMGM currently holds an interactive iGaming license and only needs an operational license for BetMGM to go live in Nevada. All signs suggest that BetMGM is much closer to launching iPoker operations in Nevada as the brand is making noise in the Nevada market.

BetMGM recently announced that it would host a live poker tournament in Nevada. The BetMGM Poker Championship is set to take place at the ARIA Resort & Casino from June 23 to 26. The buy-in for this live poker tournament is set at $3,500 and a $1 million in guaranteed prize money is up for grabs.

The live poker tournament is a great way for BetMGM to get the poker community in Nevada to pay attention to its brand and then go in for an online poker launch. While no official iPoker launch date has been confirmed as of now, there are rumours that BetMGM could launch iPoker in Nevada before the end of 2022.

BetMGM Hesitant About Nevada iPoker Market

One of the reasons why BetMGM has been slow in launching iPoker in Nevada is because there is a small iPoker market in Nevada. The state has a population of just under 3 million and had to enter into a Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA) with Delaware and New Jersey to expand its iPoker market.

BetMGM will look to take advantage of MSIGA in Nevada and also give the WSOP competition for its iPoker market share.
