BetMGM To Host $1M GTD Poker Championship From Jun 1 in Las Vegas

Summary

  • The BetMGM Poker Championship kicks off on June 23 with $1M up for grabs
  • The tournament will run as part of the 2022 ARIA Poker Classic
  • It presents yet another sign that BetMGM could be launching in Nevada soon

BetMGM could be inching closer to a full launch in Nevada after the operator recently announced a major live poker tournament which is set to take place at the ARIA Las Vegas in June.

The inaugural BetMGM Poker Championship will serve as the headline event for the 2022 ARIA Poker Classic which will run from June 1 to July 17.

The BetMGM Poker Championship will be a four-day affair, kicking off on June 23. The tournament comes with a $3,500 buy-in and a huge $1 million guaranteed prize pool. Up until June 26, BetMGM will also be hosting other side events, such as a $600 buy-in Mystery Bounty tournament.

Those keen on taking part in the BetMGM Poker Championship can with their way into the event for a fraction of the cost through online satellites available across BetMGM US. Players have until June 12 to secure a seat into the tournament via this route.

Live poker returns to its usually busy summer schedule, with multiple major series scheduled to take place between May and July, one of them is the ARIA Poker Classic.

BetMGM’s director of poker Luke Staudenmaier said they’re thrilled to become part of the huge event, with BetMGM ambassador Darren Elias also saying that it would be the beginning of a new era of allowing players to win their way into major BetMGM live events across the country via online qualifiers.

The ARIA Poker Classic runs on the same dates as the World Series of Poker (WSOP) live festival at Bally’s in Las Vegas.

BetMGM Launching in Nevada Soon?

There are ongoing speculations that BetMGM might be looking to go live in Nevada considering the latest developments regarding interstate compacts.

Michigan has already been admitted to the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement though it has yet to finish its review and officially sign the deal. BetMGM has been operating for more than a year in the Wolverine State. It is also active in New Jersey. If the operator eventually expands to Nevada, it will establish a tri-state network, merging its player pools across all three states.

There have been a few signs over the past few months indicating BetMGM’s imminent launch in Nevada. Back in March, the operator was looking to hire a new Senior Manager of Poker Marketing in the state. Its parent company Entain also previously obtained a three-year license extension from the Nevada Gaming Commission.
