Biggest Poker Festival In Northern Europe Kicks Off In Tallinn

The largest poker festival of the summer in Northern Europe has just kicked off! The 2019 Summer Showdown boasts of 36 action-packed events and runs from July 23-28 at the Olympic Park Casino and the Hilton Tallinn Park in Tallinn, Estonia.

The entire schedule was put together by experienced tournament director Teresa Nousiainen, features a wide variety of games with buy-ins ranging from €0 to €2,150. There will also be something in store for cash game players, with small and big stakes games running 24/7 for the duration of the festival.

Nousiainen said their main goal for this huge event is to make sure all players have a great time at the tables. The affordable tournament buy-ins and the cash game option make the Summer Showdown a truly player-friendly, good-value festival, she added.

Number Of Exciting Events 

Intense action will commence on July 23 with the €220 Opening Event featuring a massive top prize plus a free ticket to the Summer Showdown €1,100 Main Event. This will be added to the event’s prize pool. The winner of the Opening Event won’t have to worry about the rake as the festival will cover it.

Tournament organizers have put together a special Ladies Event which takes place on July 27 and has a buy-in of €55. Some of the other exciting events scheduled to take place include €110 PLO 5 Card Hyper Turbo; €330 Open Face Chinese Pineapple and €550 PLO 5 Card Hi/Lo 6 Max.

Main Event

The Main Event will run for four days, on July 25 – 28, with the action kicking off with eight blind levels of an hour each, and players starting with 30,000 in chips. Unlimited re-entries are allowed on the opening day, up until the end of the first blind level of Day 2. From there, the action resumes with blind levels lasting for 1 hour each until the event plays down to a winner on Day 4, July 28. 

The Main Event is expected to attract some of the finest poker players in Europe, including Aki Pyssing, who recently finished in the money during this summer’s WSOP Main Event, as well as Matias Knaapinen, an accomplished poker pro who triumphed in two side events in the same festival in 2018.
