Summary:
The Triton Super High Roller Series kicked off with a big-name win during the opening event.
The $25,000 GGMillion$ Live event was ruled by one of the biggest names in the industry, Chris Moneymaker, who took home the prestigious title and a whopping cash prize of $903,000.
Moneymaker sat with one big blind on the bubble and topped a player field of 163 participants, eventually defeating the final table that packed many other iconic poker names.
Moneymaker, who won the Main Event at the 2003 World Series of Poker, reacted to his big roller win by saying “I wasn’t going to lose today“.
He further explained that he “could have put it in with any hand” and still would have won. “I ran pure”, the poker pro added, detailing that he hit “a three-outer, a six-outer” and was reminded of his big win in 2003 which motivated him to think he was not going to lose any more poker hands.
The result is even more important since the pro does not “really play a whole lot of high rollers” anymore, as he further explained, making sure to add that whenever he does play high rollers, he enjoys it.
Speaking about his plans for the future, Moneymaker said he is less likely to “play a ton more” but that he will certainly “be back out at a Triton stop” considering the “really good job” they do at running tournaments.
The win represents the third-biggest win of his career following the 2003 WSOP Main Event and his fifth-ranking result at the $250,000 Luxon Invitational in August 2023.
At the same time, the cash prize of close to one million will now carry Moneymaker to the top of the all-time money list in Tennessee with $7.1 million, going over Kathy Liebert with $6.9 million.
US player Brian Kim came in second and took home $609,000, followed by Ukrainian Igor Yaroshevskyy in third position with $419,000, Chinese Ding Biao with $341,000 in fourth, and Serbian Danilo Velasevic with $272,000 in fifth.
