Dan Zack Takes Home 2022 WSOP POY Title Along with 2 Bracelets

Dan Zack is the 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Player of the Year. The American poker pro has dominated the leaderboard for several weeks before finally being declared as this year’s POY, earning a total of 4,530 points throughout the series.

Zack has had an impressive WSOP run this year, having won two gold bracelets and 14 cashes overall. The Princeton, New Jersey native started making a name for himself by crushing games at Live at the Bike. He has been chasing the prestigious POY title since 2017 and set a goal to win it before taking a break from poker.

That goal has come into fruition as Zack prepares for a much bigger challenge – getting married and building his own family. Zack said he will focus on that new journey starting next year, which means we will no longer be seeing much of him at live tournaments.

Zack now has three gold bracelets under his name. He won his first one back in 2019 in a $2,500 limit mixed triple draw which came with a $160,447 payout. He joins Main Event winner Espen Jorstad and Lawrence Brandt as the only three players to emerge as double-bracelet winners this year.

Trailing behind Zack at No. 2 was Daniel Weinman with 3,922 points, followed by 2021 WSOP Main Event winner Koray Aldermir at No. 3 with 3,111 points. Popular POY chaser Shaun Deeb once again fell short of winning the title this year as he capped off his 2022 campaign in 4th place, collecting 2,960 points throughout the festival.

The rest of the top 10 include David Peters (5th, 2,785 points), Joao Simao Peres (6th, 2,735 points), Yueqi Zu (7th, 2596 points), Brian Rast (8th, 2,459 points), Dario Sammartino (9th, 2,414 points) and Alex Foxen (10th, 2,390 points).

Negreanu Lost 1M at 2022 WSOP

Meanwhile, it was quite a disappointing run for Daniel Negreanu who lost more than $1 million and never made it to any final table at the series this year. The GGPoker ambassador wasn’t in contention for the POY title, and so was Phil Hellmuth. Josh Arieh, the 2021 POY, finished in 33rd place this year.

Zack is currently competing in the invite-only Tournament of Champions, the final event of the series.
