Negreanu Gets Flak For Threatening WSOP Online Live Stream Commenter

Daniel Negreanu failed to maintain his composure during a recent World Series of Poker (WSOP) livestream, when a commenter threw insults at his wife. The Canadian poker pro was on his daily YouTube routine, streaming his play in the $400 No-Limit Hold’em 8-Max event during the ongoing WSOP Online Bracelet Series on WSOP.com. The now-deleted comment drew some nasty words from the Poker Hall of Famer which made him a hot topic on Twitter.

Negreanu took offense when he noticed an insulting comment hurled at his wife Amanda Leatherman. The commenter, going by the name “Tom Estrada” became the subject of Negreanu’s outburst that night. He threatened to break Estrada’s teeth if he came near him, and told him to “go f**k yourself.

The 46-year-old let out some more profane words against the commenter, going as far as saying he would knock Estrada out to teach him a lesson for coming up with a “stupid f*****g comment” against his wife. The poker community did not let it pass, with Negreanu’s fellow pros criticizing him for his vulgar words.

Fellow Pros React

Shaun Deeb, Negreanu’s “mortal enemy“, said his behavior was very unbecoming for a poker ambassador. Deeb, who had been involved in a series of tirades against Negreanu in the past, wanted the Canadian poker pro to be banned from Twitch. He also took a swipe at the WSOP for not doing anything to discipline the six-time bracelet winner.

In 2019, both Negreanu and Deeb engaged in a social media standoff, throwing personal insults at each other, with their respective marriage also dragged into the picture.

Another pro who wasn’t very impressed with Negreanu’s profanity fellow bracelet winner Doug Polk, who pulled off a nasty sarcasm against DNegs, labelling his tirades a “masterclass in discipline“. Jamie Kerstetter also threw shade at the incident, saying she enjoyed Matt Berkey‘s stream because there’s no violent and homophobic threats.

Chip Race founder David Lappin, a long-time critic of Negreanu, said the player’s true colors always come out in that kind of situations. Lappin also has an ongoing dispute with Negreanu because of controversial views on sensitive subjects. Lappin also said GGPoker made the wrong decision of having him onboard as one of their Team Pros after he was “shit-canned” by PokerStars.

The WSOP Online Series exposed Negreanu’s other side – a short-tempered player who loses his cool when bad things happen. During the early stages of the festival, he also attacked WSOP.com after encountering disconnection issues.
