Daniel Negreanu failed yet again to capture a seventh bracelet this year, but overall he was among the top performers at the 2021 World Series of Poker (WSOP), much to the delight of those who took the ride with him.
Negreanu Sells WSOP Action
When the 2021 WSOP was about to start, Negreanu announced that he would be selling off pieces of his action. The GGPoker ambassador didn’t charge any mark-up and made it clear that he wasn’t doing it for business as all he wanted was to allow his fans and supporters to “take the ride“.
Negreanu took part in 46 of the 88 live events at the WSOP’s final year at The Rio and also took a shot at all of the 10 online tournaments. Overall, he paid $1,052,773 in buy-ins and ended up cashing in 18 events.
Average Profit for Negreanu’s Backers
The 47-year-old took home a total of $1,451,797.68 in winnings, including a $500 bonus which he won as bounty in Event #71. He posted a profit of $399,024.68, and when the unplayed amount of $574,711 is added in, this gives the backers a profit of 24.52%. Negreanu’s successful run brought in a $24.90 return for every $20 investment. So those who invested $1,000 earned $1,245.18.
For his 2021 WSOP campaign, Negreanu moved away from the Low-Medium-High tier of investments which he adopted in 2019 and he made the right decision.
Towards the end of the festival, he recorded a massive deficit of nearly $500,000 after failing to make the money in multiple high rollers. Negreanu was committed to giving the best value for his supporters and so he remained focused on the goal. The tide started to turn in Event #80 where he took home a small cash.
He then fired in Event #84: $50,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller and busted in his first attempt. He re-entered and ultimately made his way to the final table. Negreanu finished third in that tournament for $519,764. He followed it up with another third-place finish in Event #85: 50,000 High Roller, winning another $661,041.
It has been an exciting ride for those who backed Negreanu, and they will be keen on backing him once again at the 2022 WSOP.
