Summary:
Dimas Martinez Jr. from the US state of South Carolina has won the $1,200 No-Limit Hold’em $300K GTD, scoring the highest win in his career at $104,524 after besting a 520-entry field.
Just one year ago, Martinez Jr. finished as the inaugural RunGood Poker Series bestbet Jacksonville main event’s runner-up.
Then, he scored his career-best tournament at close to $72,000. Fast forward one year and the player has not proven just how much his finish has improved in the meantime.
After successfully topping all entries in the 2024 RGPS Destination RunGood Jacksonville $1,200 buy-in no-limit hold’em main event, Martinez Jr. has accumulated a total of close to $260,000 in lifetime tournament earnings.
Most of the money originates in the player’s two deep runs in these RGPS events at bestbet Jacksonville.
Besides carrying home the much-anticipated title and pile of money, Martinez Jr. gathered 840 Card Player Player of the Year (POY) points for his big win.
The win also marked his pioneer qualified score of the year, which propelled him up into the 170th position on the POY leaderboard.
The event’s impressive turnout led to the $300,000 guarantee being easily topped. The top 65 finishers took home a fair share of the total prize pool of $540,800.
Players at the final table grabbed at least five-figure wins.
As the last nine players sat at the final table, they were led by Jerry Wade in terms of chips.
Martinez Jr. sat in the middle while Jared Reinstein, who is the 2017 Card Player Poker Tour bestbet Jacksonville champion, was inches away from winning another big title at the venue.
However, he came out in the seventh position and bagged $13,257 as his pocket aces ran into Ritesh Patel’s flopped set of fours.
Patel went on to score a few more knockouts on his way to short-handed play. He beat Bradley Beetz who finished in the fourth position with $38,365 and Nikhil Sunku who was the second runner-up with $51,429, and finally held 12,505,000 to 3,110,000 for Martinez Jr.
Patel went home with $69,681 as the runner-up of the event.
