The Poker Masters Online (PMO) tournament is currently underway after successfully kicking off on April 12. The popular series organized by Poker Central moved over to the partypoker online platform due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The PMO continues to have a total of 30 events and has a combination of High Roller and Super High Roller tournaments spread across two weeks of intense online action.
We take a look at what unfolded so far during the first few events of the online series and see which players have come out on the winning side!
Event #1: The festival kicked off with a massive $1,000,000 guaranteed $25,000 + 500 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em 8-Max event, and it was Finnish poker pro Elias Talvitie who drew first blood, taking it down for a cool $481,250. Sergei Reixach finished runner-up for $323,125. Other well-known high-stakes crushers winning big in the event are Ole Schemion (3rd place for $206,250), Sam Greenwood (4th place for $123,750), and Michael Addamo (5th place for $96,250).
Event #2: $500K GTD PLO 6-Max was captured by Germany’s Tobias Ziegler for $190,249, while runner-up James Aikenhead of England walked away with $123,750. A total of nine players made it to the final table, including Sam Trickett who snatched the 8th spot for $20,000.
The first two events each attracted a total of 55 players.
Event #3: The third event was a $10,000 buy-in NLH 6-Max and was won by American poker pro and GPI POY Alex Foxen. The back-to-back GPI Player of the Year winner outclassed a field of 99 players, and defeated Russia’s Artur Martirosian heads-up to claim $309,677 as top prize. Martirosan earned $193,050 for his runner-up finish.
The third event of the opening day saw several prominent names in the high-stakes arena walking away with a share of the $250,000 guarantee. They include former All-Time Money List leader Justin Bonomo, as well as two-time WSOP winner Elio Fox. Adrian Mateos (3rd, $118,800), Conor Beresford (4th for $86,625), Timothy Adams (5th for $61,875) and Ali Imsirovic (6th for $42,075), all made it to the final table.
Event #4: was taken down by Canadian poker pro Mike Watson for $249,900, after beating fellow countryman Sam Greenwood, who scooped $178,500 for finishing second.
Event #5: Hungary’s Andras Nemeth triumphed winning $259,629 as top prize, while the UK’s Orpen Kisacikoglu finished runner-up for $161,850.
Foxen currently leads the race for the Purple Jacket with 310 points. He is followed by Talvitie with 289 points, Nemeth with 280 points, Greenwood with 253 points, and Kisacikoglu with 251. The Poker Masters Online will run until April 26.
