When it comes to poker rooms in America, it seems that of late more poker rooms have closed than opened and that in many ways is an indication of how the poker market has fared over the past few years.
The Treasure Island poker room was the latest poker room to shut its doors. However, poker players in Indiana will have reason to celebrate as the Four Winds South Bend Casino in Indiana recently opened their new 10-table poker room earlier.
Poker players can now enjoy $1/$2 or $2/$5 no-limit hold’em or $3/$6 limit hold’em. The poker room also offers $1/$2 pot limit Omaha.
Four Winds South Bend is classified as a Class II gaming establishment and poker with live dealers falls into that category which is why offering live games makes sense. Plans to proceed with the new room which also has video poker machines were first announced over the summer.
Four Winds Casino
The Four Winds South Bend’s Chief Operating Officer boasted that it has surpassed their initial expectations. Frank Freedman went on to say that the room had something for everyone. While poker games are in full swing, don’t expect other table games like blackjack and baccarat to be rolled out as these games and most other casino table games are classified as Class III games which are not presently allowed due to the casino’s classification as outlined in the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.
The Four Winds South Bend is located in the northern portion of Indiana, close to the Michigan border. The new poker room can expect plenty of competition from nearby Michigan casinos such as Blue Chip Casino, Horseshoe Hammond and Majestic Star Casino and Hotel which all have poker rooms. Horseshoe Hammond is one of the annual stops on the World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) while Majestic Star has played host to several large events.
Four Winds Casinos owns three other venues as well in Michigan. Four Winds Casino Dowagiac, Four Winds Hartford and Four Winds Casino New Buffalo are also popular destinations that are owned by the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians.
On top of having the newly-built poker room, Four Winds South Bend offers visitors plenty of fine dining options as well as three casino bars. Guests can enjoy a wide variety of entertainment and do some retail shopping if they like. The casino features over 1,600 slot machines that can be played for anywhere between one cent and $25.
