GGPoker Records Strong Response To 2021 WSOP Online International

The domestic portion of the 2021 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online Bracelet Series on WSOP.com has finished and now all eyes are on GGPoker as the online poker site once again plays host to the international leg of the festival which kicked off on August 1.

The series has got off to a flying start, with the first two events generating over $3 million in prize money after attracting over 32,000 entries between them.

Event #1: The Return, the lowest buy-in event on the schedule, featured an affordable entry fee of only $50, but offered a huge $1 million guarantee. The event ended up attracting a massive field of 30,810 entries.

This compares to the 29,306 entries recorded by The Opener in 2020. All in all, The Return generated $1,417,260 in total prize pool, exceeding its initial guarantee by more than 40%.

Event #2: Caesars Cares Charity Event also attracted a decent turnout. The $1,111 buy-in tournament pulled in a total of 1,584 entries, with $1,759,824 in total prize money awarded to players. A similar tournament also took place in 2020 as part of the inaugural WSOP Online series, and it fared much better, attracting 2,323 entries. Nevertheless, this year’s charity event was still a huge success.

GGPoker was better prepared to handle the online edition this year, as the initial events all took place without any technical issues, despite the massive turnout. In 2020, GGPoker was hit by a serious bug on the opening day which led to a server failure. As a result, two tournaments were paused for a week, which disappointed some players.

Next Major Action Takes Place Sunday

The international segment of the 2021 WSOP Online also features 33 gold bracelet events, similar to its US counterpart on WSOP.com. The action has just begun, and after the first two events, the next key tournaments will take place on Sunday, August 8, one of them is Event #6: Flip & Go No Limit Hold’em, a bracelet edition of the popular Flip & Go format launched by GGPoker in January 2021.

Also scheduled for this Sunday is the Millionaire Maker, which features a $1,500 buy-in and a massive guarantee of $5 million. Last year, the event was won by Daniel Dvoress who took home a little over $1.4 million and his maiden WSOP gold bracelet.
