Henrick Hecklen Takes Down Triton Series Madrid €100K Main Event

Henrik Hecklen emerged as the biggest winner yet at the ongoing Triton Series Madrid after taking down the €100,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em Main Event for €2,170,509 ($2,279,034).

The Danish poker pro topped a 93-entry field and agreed to a heads-up deal with Orpen Kisacikoglu to secure the title and the coveted Triton trophy.

Final Table Results

Nine players made it to the final table, with Sam Greenwood being the first to exit. The WSOP bracelet winner lost his pocket kings to the turned set of start-of-day chip leader Kevin Paque to finish in 9th place for $273,525.

Alfred Decarolis managed to recover after entering the final table as the shortest stack but it was short-lived as he eventually busted in 8th place for $361,200, courtesy of Bruno Volkmann.

Volkmann’s final table run was cut short as well as he was the next player to hit the rail, finishing 7th for $462,525. Patrik Antonius was gunning for his first Triton title but his quest ended with a 6th-place finish for $585,900 after he lost a classic preflop race against Aleksejs Ponakovs.

Next out was another prominent high-stakes pro, Sam Grafton, who went all-in with pocket fives against the pocket aces of Kisacikoglu. Grafton finished 5th for $751,800. Ponakovs bowed out of the game after losing his 7-4 suited to Hecklen’s flopped pair of queens. Ponakovs settled for 4th place with $932,400 in winnings. Hecklen then finished off Paque in 3rd place for $1,190,700, setting up the heads-up action.

Hecklen and Kisacikoglu struck a deal, with the former receiving the bigger portion of the prize money being the chip leader. The pair battled it out for the trophy, the title, and the ranking points, and it was Hecklen who scooped them all. Not bad for Kisacikoglu as he walked away with $2,117,316 as runner-up.

Hecklen’s Live Tournament Earnings Climb to Over $7 Million

Hecklen’s latest victory is his largest win so far, bringing his total live tournament earnings to more than $7 million.

The 31-year-old previously won titles in the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series, the World Poker Tour (WPT), and the European Poker Tour (EPT), and also scored multiple final table finishes in other major tournament series, such as the World Series of Poker (WSOP), Aria High Roller Series, and the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure where he won his previous biggest score of $1,284,260.

The €100,000 Main Event gave Hecklen his second cash at the ongoing Triton Series Madrid. Last week, he finished 9th in a €50K NLH event for €141,500 ($148,630).
