888poker Releases Names Of Wingmen for WSOP 8-Team Promotion

888poker which is the official sponsor for World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2017 launched a new promotion in May called the ‘8-Team‘ where five teams will compete to win a 2018 World Series of Poker Main Event package. The new promotion is part of a 888poker strategy to bring in more traffic to its online website and also to stir up more excitement at the WSOP.

The teams will represent five different countries – the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Sweden and Brazil, and each will comprise of a captain, wingman and a qualifier.

The team captains are all 888poker’s ambassadors and were named at the outset. However the remaining players on each team were to be named at different stages. The qualifiers will be chosen from those qualifying for the 2017 WSOP Main Event scheduled to be held later this month. However 888poker has already finalized the wingmen and released their names earlier this week.

Team U.K which is led by Chris Moorman will have William Kassouf as its wingman. The poker pro well-known for his flamboyant style and outspoken personality had netted $338,288 from finishing 17th in the 2016 WSOP Main Event.

Team Brazil’s captain is Bruno "Foster" Politano and ex-Brazilian footballer Denilson is joining the ranks as the wingman. Denilson at his peak was one of Brazil's top football stars and is the first sports celebrity from Brazil to be signed up by 888poker.

Team Canada is being led by Parker "Tonkaaaa" Talbot and the wingman chosen for Team Canada is former professional video games player Griffin Benger. The poker pro made it to the final table at the 2017 WSOP taking home $1,250,190.

Sofia Lovgren is the captain for Team Sweden and will welcome wingman Martin Jacobson who is one of the most popular poker pros on the circuit today. Jacobson needs no introduction to the WSOP as he was the 2014 WSOP Main Event champion.

The captain for Team Germany is Dominik Nitsche and his wingman is football winger and manager Mario Basler. Germany and Brazil are the only two teams who decided not to have professional poker players as their wingmen.

The captain and wingman of each team will be joined by a qualifier in the coming days. The qualifiers will be chosen from the hundreds who have so far qualified via satellites being held on 888poker.com. Players who would like to give it a try and see if they qualify, can visit the 888poker site and take part in any of the 2017 Main Event satellites which are still running.
