Second Edition Of The World Cup of Cards Kicks Off On August 13

The World Cup of Cards (WCC) is returning to Playground Poker Club in Montreal with a wider range of events and bigger prize pools. Scheduled to be held between Aug. 13 and Sept. 13, the WCC will have in total over $6 million in guaranteed prize pools across 36 events, offered in different poker formats that’s sure to appeal poker players of all experience levels.

One of the highlights of the inaugural edition of WCC which was held in 2016 was the large selection of non-hold’em events. The 2017 edition is also expected to feature the same and organizers are expecting an even bigger turnout.

There will a total of 36 poker events and 11 of these events will have a special poker format such as crazy pineapple, pot-limit Omaha eight-or-better, and Roll the Dice six-game mixed tournament. Players will also be able to find alternative versions of the no-limit hold’em format via events such as a shootout or a mix-max.

The 2017 WCC will have four headlining events and the first one is the $220 partypoker LIVE Grand Prix Canada which comes with a $1 million prize pool guarantee. The guarantee is double of what had been on offer at the Grand Prix Canada event which was held recently. The event will have 17 live starting flights at the venue and several more online, allowing players plenty of opportunity to grab a seat.

Playground Poker Club

The CPPT World Cup of Cards is the next big event and starts Aug. 25 going on till Aug. 28. This $1,500 + $150 no-limit hold’em event boasts of a $400,000 guarantee and will offer two starting flights.

A new event known as the Playground1000 will be held on the weekend starting Sept. 10. This event will have a $1 million prize pool guarantee and a buy-in of $1,100 buy-in. The new event is expected to attract a great deal of interest. Players have the option of trying their luck at any of the four starting flights planned for the event.

The biggest of the four events will be the Canadian Poker Championship. The CPC is scheduled to be held from Sept. 8-13 and is expected to bring in some of the top poker players in the world. With a stunning $2 million guarantee, the $2,200 no-limit hold’em event will have three single re-entry starting flights plus an additional single re-entry turbo flight.

Satellites will be held both live at the venue and online at partypoker.com. Several other smaller events are available over the month-long tournament.
