Summary
The Mediterranean Poker Party is drawing to a close with just a few events left on the schedule.
All eyes are now on the Triton Poker Series tournaments, and the latest winner to be crowned was Matthias Eibinger who took down the Triton $50,000 No-Limit Hold’em event.
The Turbo tournament attracted a total of 32 entries and Eibinger outclassed them all to take home the $545,000 top prize. Coincidentally, the Austrian poker pro also won a similar tournament at the same venue back in April for $676,000. That victory earned him his first Triton title.
The $50K tournament saw several familiar faces taking part, including Ebony Kenney who has had an incredible run at the festival so far. She recently finished 5th in the Coin Rivet Invitational to claim a career-best $1.7 million. She was gunning for another final table finish in the $50K NLHE Turbo event but was eliminated in 8th place, just two spots from the money.
It was Kenney’s dear friend Winning Poker Network (WPN) CEO Phil Nagy that sent her to the rail but that’s just how it goes in poker and Kenney had no ill feelings whatsoever and gracefully exited the table.
American poker pro Scott Ball became the bubble guy after he busted in 7th place.
The final table was comprised of some of the biggest names in the high-roller real money poker circuit who are also bracelet winners, including Danny Tang who was the first to be eliminated, finishing 6th for $110,000.
Next out was fellow World Series of Poker (WSOP) champ Aleksejs Ponakovs who claimed the 5th spot, earning $140,000. Winning Poker Network (WPN) CEO Phillip Nagy also had a good run, collecting $185,000 for his 4th-place finish.
Finishing 3rd was Mikita Badziakouski who took home $245,000. The Belarusian poker pro has had a great year so far at the live felts, with a total of nine final-table finishes.
Eibinger faced Jonathan Jaffe for the final action, with the latter holding a huge chip advantage, but Eibinger managed to quickly recover and eventually grabbed the lead. In the final hand, the Austrian pro’s kings held against the K-10 of his opponent to win the tournament and officially become a two-time Triton champion. Jaffe meanwhile bagged $375,000 for finishing second.
