The Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) will visit the state of Iowa in March for two stops. One of those stops will be an inaugural stop at Riverside Casino.
The tour is now in its 12th season and has remained popular among players not only in the Midwestern area, but also in popular poker hot spots such as Las Vegas. The tour’s most recent stop was at The Venetian in early February.
MSPT’s first stop in Iowa will be at Grand Falls Casino in Larchwood. The tour will host a $360 buy-in Regional Event which offers $50,000 in guarantees. The event runs from March 17-21 and has three starting flights.
Players can get in for a more affordable price via a series of satellites, and they can also take part in three side events which include a Turbo Deepstack, an MSPT Tag Team Championship, as well as a Seniors Championship (50+) event.
The upcoming Regional Event at Grand Falls will be the 37th Regional Event that the tour has hosted in its 12-year history. Regional Events have been running since Season 6, giving players the opportunity to enjoy MSPT’s great structure at a much lower buy-in of either $350 or $360.
The MSPT also hosted a similar event at Grand Falls in March 2020 which was won by Swadeep Mishra for $23,467.
$1,100 MSPT Main Event – Riverside Casino
After Grand Falls, the MSPT will then head over to the Riverside Casino & Golf Resort in Riverside for the $1,100 buy-in, $200,000GTD Main Event, which takes place from March 26-28. It marks the first time that the tour is visiting Riverside Casino.
The $1,100 Main Event features two Day 1s running on March 26 and 27. Players will start with 25,000 in chips, played to 40-minute levels. Surviving players from both flights will meet again on March 28 for the final action.
The Riverside Casino may be a new stop for the MSPT, but it is expected to attract a huge turnout, as was the case with the recent Main Events held at its sister property, the Grand Falls Casino. In August 2020, the $1,100 Main Event at Grand Falls became the largest major in state history. Mark Collins won the event for $107,709 after topping a total of 518 entries. It was also his second MSPT title.
