Chess Grandmaster Wins partypoker MILLIONS Online 6-Max SHR Event

The ongoing MILLIONS Online on partypoker has crowned its newest winner. Ottomar Ladva just won the 6-Max Super High Roller for $525,089 following a thrilling heads-up battle against high-stakes pro Justin Bonomo.

The Super High Roller event, which had a buy-in of $25,500, ended up smashing its initial $1,000,000 guarantee after pulling in 70 entries to generate a massive $1,750,000 in total prize pool.

What made Ladva’s victory even more interesting was the fact that he was able to secure a Super High Roller seat by spending just $530 via a feeder tournament. Taking home over half a million dollars represents a massive return for the Estonian poker pro.

6-Max Super High Roller Final Table Results

A total of 11 players returned on Day 2 of the event, but only seven of them made it to the final table, some of whom were big names in the game. Bonomo was leading the pack, with Ottomar Ladva trailing closely behind.

The first to leave the table was Ami Barer. The Canadian poker pro was at the bottom of the chip counts when the final action began. He was out of the game after his suited big slick lost in a flip against Bujtas Laszlo‘s ladies. Barer won $75,781 for his 7th-place finish, while Laszlo grabbed the chip lead.

Laszlo went on to eliminate Day 2 chip leader Brock Wilson as both competed in a huge pot with Wilson’s rivered set against Laszlo’s nut straight. Wilson finished 6th for $90,589.

The next to fall was Aleksejs Ponakovs – his nine-eight didn’t work against Ladva’s jack-ten to finish his bid in 5th place for $114,839. Bonomo then doubled against Laszlo and eventually finished him off in 4th place for $152,275 with treys vs. ace-ten.

Bonomo was back at the top spot after Laszlo’s exit, and extended his lead further when his flush won against the queen-five of Jason Koon. The partypoker ambassador walked away with $212,835 for his 3rd place finish.

Heads-up play began between Bonomo and Ladva, with the former holding a 2:1 chip advantage. The Estonian poker pro eventually snatched the lead before the final hand took place. The pair got it in with top pair on the turn – Ladva had ace-jack suited while Bonomo held queen-jack. Neither of them found help on the river which saw Bonomo settling for 2nd place with $327,468 in winnings.
