partypoker Announces More Changes For Recreational Players

As part of its new vision to create a more fun, fairer and safer gaming environment for recreational players, partypoker is making some more changes to its offerings, which will see antes being introduced to cash games, alongside new upcoming developments at the online poker room.

The return of antes will provide more action every hand and is great for players who are into action-packed games.

It was initially scheduled to take effect on October 3, but it’s now understood the latest option will be made available to players later this week.

In a tweet last week, Dusk Till Dawn owner and partypoker partner Rob Yong announced the site would go back to the basics by incorporating the ante format into some of its games, including Fast Forward.

Yong asked members of the poker community on what they thought were the best ante options to include in the site’s cash games.

partypoker isn’t the first operator to introduce the ante format though, as the option has already been up and running on PokerStars for a number of years.

Anonymous Tables Are Back

The new MyGame feature will also hit the partypoker client later this month, which will enable players to export anonymous hand histories, without the opponents’ usernames. In doing so, players can keep their results and monitor their performance more efficiently, with the help of third-party trackers such as Poker Tracker and Hold’em Manager. The introduction of MyGame was announced alongside the prohibition of heads-up displays (HUDs) and hand history export in June.

partypoker’s earlier decision to require players to show their real names at both heads-up and high-stakes cash games did not sit well with the majority of its users, so the site is bringing back the anonymous display option in response to player feedback.

More Developments

Apart from these changes, Yong also said the fastforward leaderboard structure will also be modified, with additional features soon to be introduced, such as a new “Run it Twice” option, as well as new poker variants for players to enjoy, including 8-game and five-card pot-limit Omaha. The present heads-up format is also set to be replaced by a new “King of the Hill” system.

The latest changes coincide with the poker room’s FairPlay initiative, which looks to get rid of unscrupulous activities on the site and provide an improved online poker experience for amateurs and recreational players. Since December 2018, partypoker closed hundreds of suspicious accounts and seized more than $1 million in funds which are now in the process of being returned to the affected players.
