The latest edition of the partypoker US Online Network PKO Series finally concluded on August 2. While the US festival was generally successful, the main event suffered an overlay due to a technical glitch.
The $75,000 GTD Main Event ran as a phased multi-flight event, with players able to enter Day 1 with a buy-in of $35. Those who were unable to get in via the week-long starting flights were still given the opportunity to directly buy into Day 2 of the event for $320. Players were also supposed to be allowed to late register, however a software issue prevented them from doing so. This resulted in only 79 players officially getting in, with a total of $27,604 generated via the buy-ins.
Since the glitch was discovered late, partypoker US officials decided to just move on with the tournament and shoulder over $50,000 in overlay. They also maintained the usual payout structure which saw all Day 2 entrants, including those who already busted, collect a minimum cash of $218.
The final battle lasted more than six hours, and when the dust settled, it was “pay4medsch00l” who walked away with the lion’s share of the money worth $13,597.50. The eventual winner battled against “Ozzy_Rock111‘s in heads-up play with a significant chip advantage. “pay4medch00l” sealed the victory after calling the three-barrel bluff of “Ozzy_Rock111‘s” who earned $10,125 for finishing second.
The rest of the final table was comprised of “phillychzteak1” who finished 9th for $3,112.50; Anthony “Flawlissbinkage” Maio who finished 8th for $4,125; “ELITEMALESSO” taking the 4th spot for $5,362.50 and “IReadYrSoul” finishing 3rd for $7,125.
Among other players to finish in the money include “monge“, Clayton “claytonfletcher” Fletcher, Brian “TopCreature” Sherrier, Ryan “Whosyourdoddy” Dodd, “Gags30” Gagliano, Daniel “leinad” Buzgon and Mike “MistaMenzer” Menzer.
The PKO Series ran across the three online poker sites under the partypoker US online network – partypoker US, BetMGM Poker, and Borgata Poker.
Apart from the Main Event, the festival also included a number of side events, two of them were won by Eric “alwaysliquid” Vanauken (Event #3: $15,000 GTD PKO Bounty & Event #4: $12,000 GTD PKO Bounty Boost) for more than $12,000 in combined prizes. In the previous edition of the series, Eric also scored back-to-back victories for Events 5 and 6, collecting over $4,000 in prizes across both events.
