Peru’s Sebastian Gaviño’s Dreams Come True At BSOP Millions 2019

The Brazilian Series of Poker (BSOP) Millions recently came to an end, and another lucky player walked away with a highly-coveted Platinum Pass to the 2020 PokerStars Players Championship (PSPC). The BSOP has the reputation of being known as the biggest poker tournament in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Andre Akkari’s Road to PSPC event was a part of the massive festival, and attracted a total of 4,142 entries, creating a new record as the biggest ever tournament in BSOP history, as well as the largest ever held on South American soil. The enormous field created an R$1,203,320 prize pool, with the top 624 finishers taking home cash.

It was Peru’s Sebastian Gaviño who emerged victorious, outclassing Brazil’s Gabriel Finetto heads-up to capture R$132,570 as top prize, alongside the Platinum Pass which gives him a free seat to the much bigger €22,500 buy-in PSPC which returns to Barcelona in August 2020.

The package, which is worth $30,000 also includes six nights hotel accommodation for two in Barcelona, airport transfer, bespoke PSPC merchandise, as well as €1,250 to cover other expenses during his stay in the beautiful Spanish capital.

Gaviño’s love for poker started back in 2014 when he played with his friends at a local poker club. He said his ultimate goal in entering the BSOP was to win the Platinum Pass, and that goal came to fruition over the weekend when the pass was handed to him by tournament host Andre Akkari himself, as well as 2003 WSOP Main Event champion Chris Moneymaker who is a long serving PokerStars ambassador.

The Peruvian considers this victory the best thing that has happened in his life but knows that this is just the beginning. His biggest challenge will take place in August 2020, when he competes against some of poker’s best players for a multi-million dollar top prize.

PokerStars Handing Out Lots Of Passes

This year, a number of players have already won Platinum Passes, including Andrew Barham, Daniel Stancer, Valdir Santos and Victor Antoci, all of whom secured their PSPC ticket by taking down the Moneymaker’s Road to PSPC 2020 with stops in London, Newcastle, and Dublin.
