PokerStars 2022 SCOOP Registers New Records Across US Markets

Summary

  • SCOOP awarded $6.4 million in total prizes, surpassing its $4.5 million guarantee
  • More than 100,000 entries were recorded across PA, MI, and NJ
  • The big winners include PokerStars ambassador Mark Foresta

PokerStars’ flagship tournament series, the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) has wrapped up in the US and it’s been a massive success.

The online poker operator awarded $6.4 million in total prize money across all of its three rooms across the country, smashing the initial $4.5 million guarantee.

The three US markets are in New Jersey (NJ), Pennsylvania (PA), and Michigan (MI) attracted over 100,000 entries throughout the series which took place from March 25 to April 11. Overall, the series collected $6.4 million in total prize pool, surpassing its original guarantee by around 140%.

The series crowned 345 champions as a whole, with the NJ, PA, and MI sites each creating 115 SCOOP champs. The spring festival also awarded 90 trophies to the winners across the three markets.

PA attracted the biggest single field when PASCOOP 07-L: $10 NLHE Spring Special recorded 1,500 registrations. Apart from the championship events on the schedule, all three sites also ran leaderboards and tons of freeroll tournaments.

The Main Events performed well across all three rooms, exceeding their guarantees after pulling in almost 2,000 total entries. PA recorded the largest number with 879 entries, followed by MI with 689, and NJ with 353.

On April 10 alone, over $1 million in total prizes were awarded across the events scheduled for that day, including the Main Event. That was the first time in more than 12 months that the three rooms awarded seven figures in a single day.

The Big Winners

TrypotophanMan won the PA Main Event for $40,900, while iRunDaMitten triumphed in the MI edition taking home $33,273. In NJ, BillHuckle was crowned the Main Event champion, walking away with $18,460.

Among other big winners at the series was PA-based Twitch streamer Mark Foresta who is a member of Team PokerStars Pro Online. He won two PASCOOP titles, including Event 21-M: $200 NLHE which came with a top prize of $20,376. Overall, Foresta’s SCOOP bid ended with a total of eight final table finishes.

The massive success of PokerStars USA’s SCOOP festival comes after Michigan was admitted into the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA). With MI officially joining the compact, PokerStars will run its first two-state network in the US, merging its player pools in NJ and MI.
