Poker fans have a whole lot of fun to look forward with the World Championship Of Online Poker (WCOOP) just around the corner. PokerStars has released the detailed schedule for the 2017 edition of WCOOP which will be held from Sept. 3 – 26.
This year again the WCOOP is choc-a-bloc with 81 exciting tournaments, which will include a $5,200 Main Event with a $10 million guarantee and nearly $60 million in guaranteed prizes. A major change will be the introduction of a Low stakes tier that features events with buy-ins that are around 1/20th of the High buy-in levels.
The Low series replaces the erstwhile mini-WCOOP, which was conceptualized as a parallel series offering the same games as the main WCOOP but with lower buy-ins. This year the low stakes tier will offer guaranteed prize pools of over $11 million, making it a truly attractive option for low budget players.

Another key feature of the 2017 WCOOP will be the introduction of numerous tournaments and events specially designed to reward players. All players reaching the final table of any of the WCOOP events will be receiving tickets to a $55 Daily Satellite event that will award 2017 Main Event seats. Prizes worth $50,000 will be given out in these Satellites.
Additionally all those in the bubble phase in any of the 2016 WCOOP tournaments will be eligible to get a ticket for one of these Daily Satellites. Special bubble freerolls are also planned for those who finished just before entering the money phase in all the 2017 WCOOP events.
Players looking to win a seat at the Main Event also have the opportunity to do so via special edition Spin & Go tournaments with buy-ins of $27 and $109 . Pokerstars also intends to handout $700,000 worth WCOOP tickets to players through the PokerStars Rewards Chests.
The WCOOP was launched in 2002 and since then has turned into one of the most successful online poker series in the world. Last year, the WCOOP featured 82 events and $73,504,875 in prize money. The WCOOP Main Event champion was Jonas “IIJaYJaYII” Lauck who took home a stunning $1,517,541 in winnings.
The 2017 WCOOP High Events Schedule features a large list of events in a variety of formats such as 5-Card PLO, NLHE, HORSE. High stakes players have three options in the High series: the $25,000 PLO [6-Max]on Sept. 17, the $25,000 NLHE [8-Max] to be held on Sept. 21 and the $10,300 8-Game on Sept. 23.
