Summary:
PokerStars has kicked off the year with exciting new offerings for players. After rolling out its revamped rewards program this week, the online poker giant released the schedule of its newest tournament series, the Carnival Series.
The festival makes its debut on PokerStars on January 28, bringing with it a massive $12.5 million guarantee, spread across a wide range of events.
The inaugural Carnival Series on PokerStars coincides with the Rio Carnival, the biggest event of the Brazilian cultural calendar. This year, the event will be celebrated in the country from February 9-17. Online poker players, especially Brazilians, can get into the festive mood by taking part in PokerStars’ first-ever Carnival Series which runs from January 28 to February 5.
The Carnival Series features a total of 150 events, with buy-ins that can accommodate players of all levels. Buy-ins start at $2.20, with the highest entry fee set at $1,050. All in all, players will be competing for $12.5 million in guaranteed prize money, with two events offering a seven-figure prize pool.
The first of two events offering a seven-figure prize pool takes place right on the opening day. The $109 8-Max PKO Sunday Million offers comes with a $1 million guarantee and runs on January 28 along with seven other events.
The jam-packed schedule is headlined by four Main Events which will all be played as Mystery Bounty tournaments. The low version has a buy-in of $11 and guarantees $250,000. The $109 edition is likely to attract the most attention as it offers $1.2 million in guaranteed prize pool. The high version costs $1,050 to enter and features $750,000 in guarantees.
A fourth Main Event comes in the form of a PLO 6-Max Mystery Bounty which has a buy-in of $215, with $100,000 guaranteed.
Additionally, the series includes a handful of Carnival-inspired events, most of which have smaller buy-ins. They include the $2.20 Micro Sunday Fenomeno ($5K GTD, Jan. 28), $3.30 The Acai 6-Max PKO ($20K GTD, Feb. 2), and the $11 The Saturday Feijoada 7-Max Semi-Turbo Big Knockouts ($100K GTD, Feb. 3). For high-stakes enthusiasts, there are a few $1,050 events spread across the schedule.
