PokerStars SCOOP Coming To New Jersey & Michigan In May

New Jersey and Michigan poker players have a lot to look forward to in the next month as PokerStars has announced that its popular Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) will be coming to both states in May.

The NJSCOOP and MISCOOP will run simultaneously from May 8-24, featuring tournaments played in the usual Low, Medium, and High buy-in levels.

2021 NJSCOOP

NJSCOOP is one of the longest-running online tournament series in the Garden State. The festival achieved a significant milestone in 2020 when it featured $1.2 million in guarantees spread out across a total of 96 events (48 individual events, each played in two buy-in tiers), making it the largest ever series in NJSCOOP’s history.

This year, NJSCOOP returns with a much bigger schedule of 165 tournaments in total (55 individual events, each played in three buy-in tiers), with $1.2 million in guaranteed prize money up for grabs.

The series will culminate in the $300 buy-in, $100,000 GTD High Main Event which runs on May 23. Last year, “moledaddy” shipped the Main Event for $30,121.18 in top prize after outclassing a 620-entry field.

As usual, NJ players will be able to win their way into the major events for a fraction of the price via tons of satellites running throughout the series. PokerStars NJ will also be giving away bonuses, such as the Depositor Freeroll and Second Chance Freerolls.

First-Ever MISCOOP

PokerStars is entering its fourth month of operations in Michigan, having launched in late January. PokerStars initially enjoyed an online poker monopoly in the Wolverine State for around two months, until BetMGM Poker went live in March.

PokerStars wants to prove that it still holds the edge when it comes to holding huge-guaranteed tournaments, and now it’s bringing the popular SCOOP brand to the state, with the inaugural event offering $2 million in guarantees.

Michigan players will have 40 individual events to choose from, available in the Low, Medium, and High buy-in tiers (120 tournaments all in all). Players can enter for as low as $5 (Low), all the way up to $1,000 (High).

Like its NJ counterpart, the MISCOOP schedule also includes three Main Events, the biggest of which will get underway on May 23. It costs $300 to enter and guarantees $200,000.

The MISCOOP schedule is comprised of mostly No-Limit Hold’em events, but there are other variants and formats thrown into the mix as well, including Pot-Limit Omaha, HORSE, 8-Game, Progressive Knockout, and Heads-Up.
