PokerStars Turbo Series Will Have $15m In Guaranteed Prize Money

The Turbo Championship of Online Poker (TCOOP) was a player favorite when it was part of PokerStar's slate of tournament events.

Poker players were disappointed in Jan 2018, when PokerStars announced that it had decided to retire TCOOP and did not provide players with much of an explanation. The company did confirm that it was going to replace TCOOP with something bigger and better called the ‘Turbo Series‘.

Turbo poker is a popular format when it comes to online tournaments. It works by accelerating the blind and antes in a poker game.

This allows a poker game to finish a whole lot faster and many online poker pros are in favor of this format as it allows them to play more hands and more games. PokerStars has decided to launch the Turbo Series and have all events based on the Turbo format.

The company has confirmed that the Turbo Series will take place from February 18 and will end on March 4. The Turbo series will consist of 74 events where buy-ins range from $11 to a high-rolling $5,200. The opening event will start off with a hold'em contest that has a $109 buy-in and a $500,000 guaranteed prize pool. There will be over $15 million in guaranteed prize money up for grabs during the Turbo Series. There will also be three Platinum Pass Packages for the PokerStars Players No-Limit Hold'em Championship in 2019.

In a statement, Severin Rasset, PokerStars Director of Poker Innovation and Operations said

The Turbo Series is a great opportunity for players of all levels to play in a fun and fast-paced series that is guaranteed to be one of the most enjoyable events of the year

Online poker pros who are finding it hard to come up with the buy-ins, can take advantage of the numerous online satellite qualifiers being held at PokerStars. There will be $2.75 Spin & Go games that will allow players to win potential discounts and even a seat at the $1,050 Main Event.

The real draw of the Turbo Series are the Twin Turbo’s Main Events. On March 4, there will be a $55 No Limit Hold' em game that promises a $1 million prize pool, along with a Platinum Pass Package worth $30,000. At the same time, a $1,050 No Limit Hold' em game promises the same Platinum Pass Package – but with a $2.5 million prize pool. On March 5, Players who took part in a Turbo Series event can join the PokerStars Players Championship Turbo Series All-in Shootout where the last Platinum Pass Package will be up for grabs.
