Scott Seiver’s Premonition Comes True with WSOP Player of the Year Win

Summary:

  • Scott Seiver won the WSOP Player of the Year, as anticipated by the player in a tweet in May.
  • Seiver will also be eligible to enter the Poker Hall of Fame when he turns 40 in 2025.
  • The Las Vegas resident has accumulated $26.8 million in live tournament cashes.

The live World Series of Poker in the US ended last week.

However, two WSOP Online bracelet events still unfolded this week, with a potential impact on the heated race for the Player of the Year (POY) award.

This meant that the WSOP was not able to officially name Cold Spring Harbor-born Scott Seiver as the winner of the prestigious title since fellow players were still mathematically part of the competition.

With a historical 2024 World Series of Poker edition that saw two game icons, Daniel Negreanu and Phil Ivey, end their decade-long bracelet droughts, and Seiver holding on to three bracelets, the Las Vegas resident was missing a late final table appearance so he could prevent competitors Jeremy Ausmus and Michael Rocco from stealing his POY title.

However, all stars aligned in Seiver’s favor, and despite the power shown by Rocco and Ausmus throughout the summer, the 39-year-old received the prestigious title.

He is now also eligible for the Poker Hall of Fame in 2025 when he turns 40.

600 More POY Points Than the Runner-Up

Seiver managed to accumulate 4,403.85 points, roughly 600 more compared to Rocco, who was the runner-up.

Ausmus took the third position with 3,686.60 points, followed by John Racener who took fifth place at 3,557.10 points, and Xixiang Luo who finished in fifth with 3,480.93 points.

It was a busy year for Seiver, who grabbed his fifth, sixth, and seventh bracelets and also reached two additional final tables late in the series.

On the final day of play, he took sixth place in the $25,000 High Roller H.O.R.S.E. tournament, grabbing 398.43 POY points and taking home $131,719.

This way, he left Rocco, Ausmus, and Racener in a place where they needed to win one of the final two WSOP Online bracelet events in order to overtake him in the lead.

As this didn’t occur, Seiver came out with flying colors from the race.

Seiver Walked the Walk

The poker superstar saw his prophecy tweet on X in May on winning POY come to life in front of his eyes just a few months later.

The poker superstar, who is also the first to win three WSOP bracelets at the same venue during the same year since Jeffrey Lisandro’s accomplishment in 2009, wasn’t all X talk when he said

looking to get big action down on POY either h2h with people drafted lower or near me or bracelet bets vs people or direct odds to win a bracelet Dms open

He walked the walk too and now, as the latest WSOP POY, he boasts $26.8 million in live tournament cashes as per The Hendon Mob, three bracelets, five final tables, and 17 events that he cashed in.
