Southern EU Poker Market Set To Enjoy Flagship Tournaments

The Southern European online poker market continues to attract major action as the world’s leading poker websites PokerStars and partypoker prepare to bring launch their flagship online tournaments.

Partypoker is currently running its popular Powerfest festival while PokerStars will host its SCOOP online tournament.

Partypoker To Hold Second Powerfest Tournament

Catering to poker players in France and Spain, Partypoker has partnered with France’s PMU.fr for the second edition of Powerfest which kicked off on February 24 with the first being held last September. The poker festival, which runs until March 12, carries a combined prize pool of €3.5 million. Powerfest has upped the number of events this year to 334, compared with 297 last year.

The jam-packed schedule has something in store for every bankroll level, with events categorized into multiple tiers like Micro, Low, Medium and High. The festival also features an array of high rollers.

Powerfest has three Main Events, the largest of which has a buy-in of €250, while the other two come with €55 and €11. All three events offer €515,000 in combined guarantees. To find out more information about the Main Events, do check the partypoker website.

Players can also take part in a €1,050 Championship progressive knockout event, the highest buy-in event on the schedule, with €100,000 up for grabs. Online satellites will run throughout the festival, and players may also qualify trough SNG JAQKPOT events for a much lower price.

PokerStars Hosts SCOOP

The other major poker tournament that poker players in Southern Europe will be excited about is the second edition of Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP), courtesy of PokerStars. Players in France, Spain and Portugal must stay tuned for the announcement of the full schedule which is still being finalized.

The first edition of SCOOP was a huge success, with 120 events drawing a combined prize pool of €11 million.

As a preview to this year’s SCOOP festival, PokerStars Europe will host a €250 SCOOP 2019 Equinox event which will run on March 24-25, offering a guarantee of €1 million. The event follows a six-max structure, where players begin with 50,000 chips, 125/250 blinds, with an ante of 30. Players can qualify either by taking part in a number of satellites which are currently running, or by playing €12.50 Spin and Go’s.

Multiple €250 tickets won in the special Spin and Go’s may be used in other SCOOP events with a similar buy-in. Players may keep the unused tickets and have them converted to regular €250 tickets after the SCOOP festival.
