The Chip Race is back its sixth season and some of the top poker pros in the world are expected to be on the show.
The popular poker podcast started and hosted by Irish poker duo Dara O'Kearney and David Lappin will return this year and a star studded line-up of players and guests will make an appearance throughout the season.
The Chip Race aims to cover all things poker, featuring interesting and funny segments with their poker guests, plus poker strategy and tips.
O'Kearney and Lappin started the podcast three years ago, initially targeted to Irish poker fans. Despite being relatively new to the field, their podcast resonated well with their target market, and also managed to attract a fan base in the UK. But despite their success, their lack of sponsorship forced them to take an 18 month break.
In 2016, the podast was revived, thanks to the support of Unibet Poker. When it came back, it aimed to reach an international market and a number of top names including Jennifer Tilly, Phil Laak and Chris Moorman were brought on the show. Thanks to these three, the podcast became more popular in the poker circles, enabling them to attract a star studded line-up for 2018.
In a statement, O’Kearney said,
When we started, the challenge was to try to reach an Irish audience. When we came back last year, the challenge was to regain that audience and also offer something to international poker enthusiasts. The challenge now is to keep a much larger audience than we ever expected to get while keeping it fresh and unformulaic
The first two episodes of season is now up on Soundcloud and iTunes. The first episode will tackle set-mining strategy based from O'Kearney's recent PocketFives Triple Crown, and feature high roller regular Sam Greenwood, the father of Deepstack Open Alex Henry, and poker reporter Laura Cornelius.
Episode two, which was just launched on May 22, has Adam Owen and Maria Ho on its guest lineup. O’Kearney and Lappin will also talk about common preparation and routines before a big online poker tournament, while Owen will share some of his pro tips for mixed game.
Next week, on May 29, the third episode will drop with Allen Kessler, WSOP Twitter Czar Kevin "kevmath" Mathers, and popular poker streamer Ben "spraggy" Spraggs. Unibet Poker Ambassador Daiva "Baltic Blonde" Byrne will also be joining episode three to talk about her recent experience at the Unibet Open Malta, held on May 17 to 20.
