WPT Asia Swing Gives Asian Players 3 Tournaments This Month

Poker players in Asia won’t have to travel outside of the continent to take part in a major tournament as one of the world’s most prestigious poker festivals, the World Poker Tour is visiting three Asian countries in September.

Named the “WPT Asia Swing“, the tour’s three stops include Vietnam, Japan and Korea. Players can earn points in three events for each stop, as explained below.

WPT Vietnam has already kicked off on September 3, and will run through September 11 at Pro Poker Club in Ho Chi Minh City. The main highlight of the schedule is the VND 15 billion (US$644,865) guaranteed Main Event which takes place on September 6-11.

It features a buy-in of VND 55 million (US$2,400). Players may also take part in the WPT Pro Poker Club SuperStack Classic which runs on September 10-11, where they can also earn points for a shot at WPT India tournament packages.

WPT will then head to Japan to host three events on September 14-16 at the Hotel Gajoen in Tokyo. Again, the icing on the cake is the JPY 20,000 (US$189) Main Event, but players have two more events to earn points from — the JPY 30,000 (US$283) WPT300, and the JPY 13,000 (US$123) Megastack.

The third and final WPT Asia Swing stop will be on September 17-23, at the Paradise City, in Incheon, South Korea. The festival also features three events that will give away points to the winners: KRW 800,000 (US$658) Main Event Warm Up, KRW 1,650,000 (US$1,358) Main Event, and the KRW 500,000 (US$411) 500K Finale.

The player who comes out on top of the leaderboard across all three stops will take home a WPT India High Roller package; including a seat in the INR 100,000 buy-in (US$1,400) WPT India High Roller event, plus, accommodation, airport and boat transfer expenses.

The second and third placers will receive an INR 55,000 (US$770) Main Event package, and an INR 35,000 (US$490) Side Event package respectively. The package also includes accommodation and travel expenses for each player, plus US$500 upon their arrival at Deltin Royale in Goa, India.

The three stops also have other side events aside from the three points events stated above. Points will also count toward the WPT Asia-Pacific Player of the Year race, the winner of which will be awarded with a $10,000 WPT Passport for any tournament worldwide, during Season XIX of the WPT. The second and third place will also be granted a $3,500 and $1,500 passport respectively.
