WPT Montreal 2018 Starts Oct 21 With $5m GTD Main Event

The World Poker Tour (WPT) Montreal will return to the Playground Poker Club in Montreal and run from Oct 26 to Nov 4. This is the 7th year for the popular WPT Montreal tour which promises to be bigger and better. This year’s series also marks the start of a fresh four-year partnership between WPT with Season XVII WPT Montreal and partypoker LIVE.

Seven massive events will run throughout the eight-day poker festival which include WPT DeepStacks, WPT Main Tour and WPT500. It’s the first time the three events are being grouped together at the same festival and is expected to draw top poker players from Canada and America.

Some of the other major events are the $10,300 High Roller tournament, a $550 6-Max event, a $1,100 PLO tourney, as well as a Ladies Event. The highlight of WPT Montreal will be its Main Event which comes with a $5 million guaranteed prize pool.

Details and Schedule

The WPT500 is the festival’s first event. With a buy-in of just $550, WPT500 comes with a $1 million guarantee. The event kicks off on October 21 with seven live starting flights, which include a turbo flight. Only one re-entry per flight is allowed, but players will have the chance to take part in as many starting days as they like. There will be three starting days beginning October 21.

The WPTDeepStacks makes its debut at the festival offering another $1 million guarantee, with a buy-in of $1,500 + $150. There will be five starting flights at the event, which include the Turbo Day 1E. The event runs on Nov 1- 4. The Ladies Event is taking place on November 4, while the High Roller tournament runs from Nov 1- 4. The $550 6-Max event will happen on the final day, Nov 4.

The showstopper will be the Main Event which has a $5,000 + $300 buy-in and a $5 million guarantee. The Main Event will feature three Live Day1s and a single online Day 1. Players are permitted to enter and reenter in each Day 1. The whole field will come together on Day 2, with the ultimate survivor being crowned on Day 5. The Main Event kicks off on October 28.

Additional Prizes

Players can also win additional prizes during WPT Montreal as $12,000 will be added to the prize pool, giving players the chance to play their way into the much anticipated Caribbean Poker Party in the Bahamas which takes place in late November. The Carribean Poker Party Overlay Satellite will take place on Oct 27.
