Summary
WSOP PA has kicked off 2022 with a bang! The room played host to the first WSOP Online Circuit series of the year and it was a massive success.
This year’s edition of the WSOP PA Online Circuit exceeded expectations, with guarantees crushed by more than 50%. The latest results are very much different from the Circuit event in 2021 where some tournaments suffered overlays – the main reason why organizers opted to reduce the guarantees for the second iteration of the series which ran from January 5-16.
The festival got off to a great start, with the opening event generating $88,800 in total prize pool, more than double its $40,000 guarantee. The strong results of the first event carried over to the rest of the schedule, with all but one tournament surpassing their guarantees by at least 30%. The penultimate event was the only one that went below that figure, exceeding its guarantee by just 8%.
Unlike last year, the operator didn’t have to shell out money to cover some overlay, and the total prize pool even went beyond the 2021 guarantee.
The 2021 Online Circuit series on WSOP PA featured $630,000 in guaranteed prize money, but that figure proved too ambitious as multiple events failed to hit their targets. Because of this, the 2022 series featured a reduced guarantee of $535,000 spread out across 12 events. The festival attracted 3,192 in total entries, including 807 rebuys, to generate a massive $838,360 in total prizes, crushing the guarantee by an incredible 56.7%.
The first event, a $215 buy-in PKO NLH tournament, recorded the largest guarantee increase of 122%. Two events awarded over $100,000 in prizes – Event #5:$75K GTD NLH Sunday Special which ended up awarding $107K in total prizes, as well as the $100K GTD Main Event (Event #12) which generated $143,000 in total prize pool.
With this strong start to the year, WSOP PA will look to keep the momentum and achieve positive results throughout the rest of 2022. WSOP PA is the fourth online poker site to go live in Pennsylvania. The other three online poker rooms operating in the state are PokerStars, BetMGM Poker and Borgata Poker.
